Define 'electric line of force' and give its important properties.

An electric field line is a path, straight or curved, such that tangent to it at any point gives the direction of electric field intensity at that point. Properties of field lines: (i) Tangent to the electric field line at any point gives the direction of electric intensity at that point. (ii) No two electric lines of force can intersect each other.
