At constant volume, an increase in the temperature results in(b) an increase in the collision frequency. This is consistent with the Kinetic Theory of Gases for which the most important idea is that the speed of molecules increases as the temperature or that temperature is a measure of the internal energy of the molecules. Increasing the velocity means that molecules cover greaterdistancein time and thus the likelihood of a collision and thus the frequency increases.
