A uniform elastic rod of mass m in vertical
position is pulled by a constant vertical upward
force of magnitude F applied at its top end as
shown. The natural length of rod is L, Young's
modulus of rod is Y and cross section area of
rod is A. Then the extension in rod is :
(acceleration due to gravity is g)

Would have been better if the options were attached but since you didn`t I derived this-Y=F|A x L|∆LWhere ∆L=extension and also L=L|2(you`ll have to count it from the centre of mass)Thus ∆L=extension=FL|2AY
