You can use Work Energy Theorem.
 
Work Done = Final Total Energy – Initial Total Energy.
 
L = Natural length.
K = Force constant.
l0 = First extension.
l1 = Second extension.
 
In your question, I am assuming that difference in first and second extension is l- l0.
Work done = (Kl12)/2 – (Kl02)/2.
 
When you stretch, the spring gains energy.
Work done here, is increase the energy.
Work done = Change in energy or Increase in energy.
