A particle moves with simple harmonic motion in a straight line. In first t s, after starting from rest it travels a distance a, and in next t s it travels 2a, in same direction, then(1) amplitude of motion is 3a (2) time period of oscillations Is 8t(3) amplitude of motion is 4a (4) time period of oscillations Is 6t

Dear Sarthak

A(1  – cos wt) = a
A(1  – cos 2wt) = 3 a

cos wt = 1 – a /A

cos 2wt = 1 – 3a /A

when solving the equation

A = 2a

cos wt = ½

T = 6t

Dear Student,
Please find below the solution to your problem.

A(1 – cos wt) = a
A(1 – cos 2wt) = 3 a
cos wt = 1 – a /A
cos 2wt = 1 – 3a /A
when solving the equation
A = 2a
cos wt = ½
T = 6t

Thanks and Regards
