Let the total distance be xThen the distance travelled with speed v1 is 3x/4.Therefore time taken is 3x/{4(v1)}Now the distance travelled with speed v2 is x/4Hence time taken is x/{4(v2)}Therefore total time taken is 3x/{4(v1)} +x/{4(v2)} ={3x(v2)+x(v1)}/{4(v1)(v2)}Therefore average velocity is = total distance /total time =x/[{3x(v2)+x(v1)}/{4(v1)(v2)}] =[4(v1)(v2)/{3(v2)+(v1)}] This is required answer
