Dear student 
Here is the short trick 
A to B u^2 /9 = u^2 /4 -2gh1 
2gh1 = 5u^2/36.......(i) 
B to C: u^2/16 = u^2 /9 -2gh2 
2gh2 = 7u^2/144 ....(ii)
h1/h2 = 5/36 * 144/7 = 20/7 = AB/BC
