a ball is projected with a speed u at an angle theta to the horizontal. the range R of the projectile is given by
R=u^2 sin2theta/g
for which value of theta the range will be maximumfor a given speed of projectile.
(g is constant)

Dear Vindhya,
u2sin2θ/g=Range-----eq.1
since maximum value of sinθ=1 and it is possible only when θ=90
here in eq.1,
for sin2θ to  be maximum, 2θ=90;
which implies θ=45 in this case.
Hence range is maximum when theta is 45degrees
