a 100g mass particle falls 490 cm downwards from rest position and comes to rest after moving 70 cm down in the sand . calculate the acceleration imposed by the sand on the particle.

u=0,v=? s=490cm=4.9m. v^2-u^2=2as from this we get v=9.8 .take it as u in the second case .then v=0 s=70cm=0.7m again use the third kinematic equation.then we get answer a=-6.86m/s^2.
