The co-ordinates of a particle moving in xy-plane vary with time t as: x=at², y=bt. The locus of the particle is ---

a) Parabola

b) Circle

c) Straight line

d) Ellipse

x=at², y=bt

for locus of particle you need to replace t from the above equation

so

x=a (y/b)²

y²=b²x/a

clearly it is a equation of parabola
