Lisght is made of seven colours. This brand of seven colours is called a spetrum.

prism is a transparent optical element with flat, polished surfaces that refract light. It is a piece bounded by two plane surfaces inclined at an angle.

Because the entry and exit surfaces of the slab are parallel. In a prism no matter where you shine the light into it, the exit surface is at an angle so the different wavelengths of light get separated because they spend different amounts of time traversing the medium and therefore get bent at different angles.

A prism bends light proportional to the refractive index of the glass. The refractive index is different for each color of light, so you see a spectrum.

There is no change in the direction of light that passes through a glass slab, so there is no spectrum.
