Since Q moves with uniform velocity V along x direction and P has variable velocity component along x direction which is increasing gradually downwards. So if we take the whole path along AOB, then average velocity is more than V along x direction for the whole path.

Hence the time taken for the path AOB is less than time taken in AB.
