A particle is sliding down a frictionless hemispherical band. It passes the point A at t = 0. At this instant of time the horizontal component of its velocity is V. A bead Q of same mass as P is ejected from A at
t = 0 along the horizontal string AB with speed V. There is no friction between string and bead. Find out which of them takes more time to reach B.

Since Q moves with uniform velocity V along x direction and P has variable velocity component along x direction which is increasing gradually downwards. So if we take the whole path along AOB, then average velocity is more than V along x direction for the whole path.

Hence the time taken for the path AOB is less than time taken in AB.
