SIR, I WANNA ASK THAT POTENTIAL ENERGY = MASS X GRAVITY AACCELERATION X HEIGHT ........BUT SIR.....IF WE WILL APPLY A FORCE IN THE UPWARD DIRECTION WHICH IS EQUAL TO THE WEIGHT O THE OBJECT THEN.....EQUAL AND OPPOSITE FORCES ON THE SAME OBJECT WILL GET CANCELED OUT AND HENCE WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LIFT THE OBJECT AT ALL AND ALSO TO LIFT AN OBJECT WE HAVE TO APPLY A FORCE GREATERTHAN ITS WEIGHT SO SOME NET FORCE WILL ACT ON IT AND HENCE WILL GET LEFTED...........SO IS THE FORMULA OF POTENTIAL ENERGY INCORRECT??????PLZ NEED ANSWER.........................

U are comparing force and energy.It does not matter whether the net force is up or down. Potential energy is instantaneous and depends upon ''''H''''. U can find out displacement using third eqn v2-u2=2as by first finding out ''''a'''' that is net force by mass. Once displacement is done we can find out final height h from the ground and thus potential energy will be U=mgh.
