If you place equal and opposite charges plus minus q on the plates of a capacitor, a potential difference V appears across them. The capacitance C of the capacitor is tehn given by  C=q/V

The Sl unit of capacitance is, as we have seen, the farad, named after Michael Faraday.

In whch N is a number of turns. The product Nø is called the flux  linkage.
