Take a Prism, pass sunlight through it and project the emerging rays on a white screen.
You will be able to see the rainbow spectrum if you pass it at correct angles.
Or you can also pour very little oil over water, so that it forms a thin film.
If you look at the film from some particular positions you can see a spectrum over the oil film.
These are interesting experiments and quite amazing to see.

its based on the principles of refraction and total internal refraction....when both the situations simultaneously occurs in sky,a rainbow appears.....further the pattern can be easily obtained by the dispersion phenomenon.
