Why are stones kept in between railway tracks?

Because  the vibrations produced in the railway tracks  will cause some seismic waves which result in the occurence of earthquakes. and it also causes inconveinience to the people living near railway tracks. they produce sound waves of large frequency which are reduced by the stones kept between the railway tracks.
