If a magnet is cut into two parts transverse to it's length N and S pole of magnet do not get separated. Each of the two parts is found to be magnet having north and south pole at the two ends. Further each part of magnet possesses the pole strength same as that of original magnet.

On the other hand, if the magent is cut into two equal parts along the length of magent, each part is found to be a magnet having pole strength exactly half of the pole strength of the original magnet.
