what is the mechanism behind the consumption of soft drinks with a STRAW??

The pressure difference that is created when drinking with a straw at the end from where the soft drink is present to the mouth of the person, makes the liquid rise and hence move into the mouth.

Due to sucking of straw by mouth, pressure creates inside the straw, so that it attract the soft drink upwards. It acts as suction pump.
