is normal shift a constant?of course it is, since for its measuement we take only 2 rays into account, but there many rays from any object.

Hi

Normal shift is a concept defined for 2 rays taken into account , so in reality we do not consider point sized objects , there are objects of finite size with many rays from it , as u are mentioning , but that does not apply to this as this concept is based on certain other conditions.
