Two rods of equal length and diameter have thermal conductivities 3 and 4 units respectively. If they are joined in series, the thermal conductivity of the combination would be (A) 3.43 (B) 3.5 (C) 3.4 (D) 3.34

As we know that both rods are joined in series, so equivalent thermal conductivity will be K1+K2
Now, we know that
R=KAL
So,
Kequivalent2L=K1L+K2L
Kequivalent2L=3L+4L
Kequivalent=724
Kequivalent=3.43
Thus option A is correct.

When we talk about thermal conductivity we can set up same chronology with capacitance or parallel equivalent resistance logic

So same rule will follow for that

1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 +...................

So you will get answer 6/5
