(3) Availability of 4f electrons results in the formation of compounds in +4 state for all the members of the series.

Reason:
The common oxidation states of lanthanoids is +3. Some of the lanthonoids may also show +2 and +4 oxidation states however they easily revert to the more stable+3 state
