The frequency of a mechanical wave created in a string is given by where μ is the mass per unit length of a string ∴ To double the vibrations, tension T has to be raised by a factor of 4.

Dear student
n = 1/2 sqrt(T/m)
n is directly proportional to sqrt T
If tension is increased four times, the frequency will become twice.
