Its a very new NIT. Although, the opening and closing ranks are very good but don’t get fooled by that. Most of the people tend to take NIT D because of the location factor and because last year‘s opening and closing ranks. But don’t take decisions in haste. New colleges don’t have good placements because it takes a period of 9-10 years to set up reutation with the industry. The companies don’t go to NITs for placements by seeing opening closing ranks. If they have been visiting NIT rourkela for 5 years, they won’t abandon it for NIT D. That’s why even new IITs are facing a lot of placement related problems even though their batch size is very small.
