According to the Gaussian theorem, the charge enclosed by Gaussian surface must be zero as electric field vanishes everywhere inside a conductor. Thus, electric field vanishes inside the cavity. Therefore, charges which are supplied to the conductor reside on its outer surface.

e.g., equal and opposite nature charge -q is induced on inner surface of conductor A at the cavity , when conductor B of charge +q is kept in its cavity. so, charge on outer surface of conductor is (Q + q1) = (Q + q)
