Acetylene is a hydrocarbon and the simplest alkyne. It is used for welding and cutting.
Ozonolysis is the method of oxidatively cleaving alkenes or alkynes using ozone.
Ozone is a reactive allotrope of oxygen. In the ozonolysis method, the unsaturated bonds are cleaved.
Oxidative ozonolysis produces carboxylic acids or ketones. Reductive ozonolysis gives either alcohol or carbonyl compounds.
Glyoxal is an organic compound which is the simplest dialdehyde. It is used for the synthesis of glyoxalic acid.
