torque is the product of the force and radius from the axis of rotation to line of action of force.when we want open the door or close the door we have to apply the torque.

When we try to close the door we have to apply some force on that door means we are trying to appying some torqe to rotate.result torque is depends upon the perpendicular distance between the force and axis of rotation of that body.

         Torque=Force*perpendicular distance
