NITs are reputed colleges, Each department has its scope. Like metallurgy has its scope in steel industries,..Gas Authorities, BHEL and many similar organizations. Here competition is tuff cz seats are less, and entrance exams are prerequisitealmost everywhere. 

Mining is again same with yet lesser scope in Terms of companies and organizations/seats.

Chemical and civil are more evergreen branches as they have jobs though broadly divided in terms of salary and packages....

many companies are ready to pay huge and many even hate to pay....

 Therefore i would suggest to forget it and go for the one you feel you are interested into and feel comfortable about. I'm sure you'll get top job in that.
