because sigma is inversely proportional to radius of curvature . and sharp sharp point consist of small radius of curvature. here sigma represent surface charge density

Here the surface thickness of the charge is meant by sigma (σ). What's more, as we as a whole realize that sigma is contrarily corresponding to the sweep of curvature(R) 
That is σ α 1/R
