what is the capacitance in case of metal plate as a medium??

1)If the inserted plate does not short circuit the capacitor, then we have to consider the capacitance between first plate and inserted plate and capacitance between inserted plate and second plate.Those two are in series so net capacitance decreases.

2)If the inserted plates shorts the capacitor, it acts like a conductor. Conductor itself  cannot store charge.
