How many electrons must be removed from the metal sphere of radius 0.05m, so that it acquires a charge of 4 x 1015 C? What is the electric intensity at a point (i) on the surface of the sphere (ii) at a point 0.04 m from the centre of the spheres?

This question had been first formulated for the 1994 IIT JEE examination where it was deemed to be one of the toughest questions of that year
