It is easy..
 
Since it is an atom, the nucleus is the COM. So, eqauting the moments on both sides,
 
m1r1= m2r2
Even if u simply the equation in your doubt, you get the same relation. I have no idea why they gave this equation in that manner, though.
 
From this,
r2= 2r1
and r1+r2= 12 Ao
 
On solving these, they found r1, and they have proceeded.
