sir, electric field inside a conductor is 0. i do know that according to dv/dr=-E. v9potential0 inside conductor is same as that on surface but i feel it difficult to understand that when there is no electric field inside a conductor to do work how can we define potential there...... according to work=force.displacement...

potential is an arbitrary constant throughout the volume of a conductor(including the surface). The value of the constant depends upon which point is takan as zero potential (for reference ).
