Two particles A and B,each having a charge Q,are placed a distance d apart.Where a particle of charge q should be placed on the perpendicular bisector of AB so that it experiences maximum force? What is the magnitude of this maximum force?

Dear Naveen,

By drawing the diagram and splitting the forces of A and B on C in components, We only get FASINθ andFBSINθ components which contribute to the net force.

Which gives

F(net) = 2FASINθ (Since, FA=FB)

For the force to be maximum SINθ should be 1

Which yields this result.

here r is the perpendicular distance
