an electric dipole experiences no net force in a uniform field, there is a net torque on it
In non uniform electric fields it will exp. net force.

An electric dipole experiences a net force when placed in a non-uniform field. But when it is placed in a uniform field, it will not experience a net force. But the two equal and opposite force act on different points so it will experience a torque in a uniform field.
