Can the reactance of an ac ciruit be negative?

X= wL - 1/wc. If wL is less than 1/wc then??????

No reactance cannot be negative, wL will always be greater than 1/wc

All three cases, wL less than, greater than, and equal to 1/wC, are easily possible. So reactance can be positive, zero or negative.
