Dear student,

In transportation phenomenon, flux is defined as rate of flow of some property per unit area per unit time. Here, ‘property’ may be mass, momentum, heat, energy etc. When these properties are transported from one place to another, one talks about the amount of that property flowing per unit area per unit time and calls this quantity as ‘flux’.
