What is the physical meaning of ` current lags behind voltage by 90 degree . How can be it compared to real life situation

When we deals with the Resistance, Inductance, Capacitance or any combination cirucit with an input ac voltage source there is a phase change occurs betwen the current and the voltage and hence the net power is calculated accordingly.
Here, current lags behind voltage by 90 degree
 means the phase b/w them is 90 degree and current is lagging for resisatnce – capacitive voltage circuit.
