Let I be the current flowing in the circuit.
Apply kvl in loop.
11 – 5I – IR = 0
I = 11/(R +5) …............(1)
Potential at A = 6V.
Potential at D →
 = IR + 4
from eqn. (1)
= 11R/(R+5) + 4
Potential Difference at A and D =>
Va  – Vd  = 6 – 11R/(R+5) - 4 = > 2 – 11R/(R+5) volt.
