equivalent resistance of circuit is 4/3 ohm.
So total current in circuit is 24 A.
Current in upper 1 ohm resitance will be 24*2/3 = 16.
from point A current have two path one of 2ohm and other from Ato B and then 1 ohm.
So it will choose path with lesser resistance. SO it will choose second path.
So current through AB wire is 16A.
Hope it clears.

Total current is 24 A and we have to divide in two branch having resistance 1 ohm and 2 ohm. So Divide this. You will get 16 amp current through 1 ohm resistance and 8 ohm through 2 ohm resistance. Circuit has symmetry that means if you reverse battery polarity there is no change so current through exit 2 ohm resistance will be also 8 amp and through exit 1 ohm resistance will be also 16 amp. So current throng AB is 16 amp from A to B and 8amp from B to A. so net current through AB is 8 A.
