Is drift velocity uniform or non uniform if so why??

Drift velocity is uniform because the relaxation time for electron is so much small that the acceleration is to be instantaneous and as it's instantaneous so in each collision the acceleration remains constant due to which the drift velocity remains uniform even it involves the acceleration component.
