Let the current in the circuit be i.
Potential difference acroos external resistance = 4.5V
              10i = 4.5
\implies          i = 0.45A
 
Starting from point A and rotating in clockwise direction ,
we get,
\implies   – 10i – ir + 5 = 0
\implies    r = (5 – 10i)/i
\implies    r =10/9 ohm
