how to tell the direction of forces in this question ? A block of mass m, lying on a rough horizontal plane, is acted upon by a horizontal force P and another force Q, inclined at an angle theta to the vertcal upwards. The block will remail in eqb, if min. coeff. of friction between it and the surface is... ? The answer is different for each of the above cases of force directions. Please tell how to make out from the question which diagram is to be considered.

It is a case of static equilibrium, for which force acting down the inclined plane..i.e. its weight component will be equalize by the static frictional force which is acted up the inclined plane...

Equate the relation and find the answer..for coefficient of static friction..
