To measure current, you must connect the two leads of the ammeter in the circuit so that the current flows through the ammeter. In other words, the ammeter must become a part of the circuit itself. The only way to measure the current flowing through a simple circuit is to insert your ammeter into the circuit

We can easily find the current in ammeter if we connect it to the series in the circuit because it has low resistance due current which current can flow through it. And in case of voltmeter we should connect it in the II with the circuit because it has large resistance so due to this current can flow through the voltmeter.
