Hi. I am an 8^th grader and was trying to make myself a table lamp. I have a LED strip, but don’t know how many volts it is rated for.

Is there any wayto find out how many volts will keep my LED safe?

i appreciate your initiative to work out on a model of table lamp . 
kindly let me know which kind of led is that , beacuse there are 2 or 3 types of led avaliable in market . 
and the voltage that needs it is 1.5-3 volt for some kind of led , and other kind of led can strive upto 4.5 v . 
so, kindly check the types of led , or it will be written in the led wire itself . 
and give me little bit description about how u are making  a lamp , so, that i can guide you in case of any default in circuit .
