by convention direction of current is taken to be in direction from -ve to positive potential...ie opposite to electron movement.

its just how we assume it to be...nothing experimental about it.

the current always flows from -ve to positive thats rite.... we call it electronic current..... but for simplicity of the circuits its the conventional current i.e. from +ve to -ve  that is most commonly accepted.... its a mere sign convention..
