Why ac changes its direction at particular interval?if it changes its direction at any interval ,then is it called ac?

AC stands for ALTERNATING CURRENT. It means current periodically and repeatedly changes direction. The voltage/current is periodic in nature and does not randomly alternate between positive and negative.
