What is the maximum number of combination if we have 3 resistors of same resistance ?

Answer is 4 but in talent and olympiad exam resource book the formula for finding number of combination if we have n resistors is 2n-1 therefore according to this answer should be 5. I am confused between 4 and 5

the formula is not 2n-1 it is "2 to the power of 'n-1'."
