We know that drift speed of electrons in a conductor is given by

v=l/t ,where l is the displacement and t is the time taken.

In H.C. Verma it is written that as t decreases v decreases. How can this be true?

Dear Vinay,

t is the time duration between two collisions, so if t is less, it  implies the distance covered by elecron is small so, v is less, similarly

if t is more the electron will cover more distance hence large v.
