Well, that’s a truth! Most engineering aspirants who have just cracked IIT-JEE examination will unintentionally follow footsteps of their role models to fill in IIT-JEE preference lists. This is not always a bad practice considering every next student is doing that and they are successful as well. However going by your interest in particular subject can make your journey to being a successful engineer very smooth and experiential. Let’s discuss a few things that make students follow footsteps of other in filling IIT-JEE preference list: 1.Most students who clear IIT-JEE don’t have any idea of what they have achieved. It was on just their parents’ insistence that they took so much effort to crack the exam. Most students appear for IIT-JEE because their parents and relatives expect them to. If they cannot understand the importance of taking IIT-JEE examination, then how they decide as to which subject will be better for them in future. This is why they intentionally follow footsteps of others. 2.Indian education system flaunts one of the most complex education programs in the world. Students hardly get time to decide think about their interest. So to think about making a preference is an out of the context question. 3.It is a common trend in India to be influenced by choices made by other successful people. In fact, successful or influential people don’t miss an opportunity to rub off their ideology on others. Only strong minded students in India can make their choices and achieve targets.
