Aspirants for admission to Indian Institute of technologies (IIT) were in for a shock during the IIT-JEE advanced on Sunday when they found unexpected changes in negative marking scheme and a change in paper pattern.

Coaching experts said paper-1 of the examination had no negative marking however there were 10 questions with more than one correct answer in all three subjects -- physics, chemistry and mathematics. Last year, paper-1 and paper-2 too both had negative marking.

In paper-2, which had negative marking, there were 10 questions with single correct answer. The paper also had comprehension type and matrix mathematic questions that gave students a tough time in solving them. Physics paper was a bit lengthy and was on expected IIT-JEE pattern. Teachers and coaching experts are estimating that those who score 300 marks out of total 360 will make it into top 50.
